PRAYERS

I invite you to pray these Stewardship Prayers every day as we deepen our communal and personal commitment as disciples of Jesus Christ.  Perhaps they can serve as grace before mealtime!
Love and Prayers, Father Al Esposito

Stewardship of Time

To you, Lord, we pray with praise and thanksgiving.
You have given us everything we need, every gift we have.
Help us to realize our most important gift, Lord –
The time we spend with you.
Help us to hear you in the Scriptures and meet you in the Eucharist,
See you in the faces of those in our community,
Love you in the people we love,
And feel you in the time we spend with you in prayer.
Create within us a desire to increase the time we spend with you,
We pray in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen

Stewardship of Talent

We humbly thank you, Lord, for making us a people of purpose,
The purpose of building up your body, the Church.
We ask for wisdom to discern the special gift
That each of us has been given to serve you.
Send us your Holy Spirit, Lord,
And inspire us to give our individual gifts to the ministries of your Church,
So that we might reach out to each other and the world
With your hands, your mind, your heart and your love,
Living as your disciples, a life of true Christian Stewardship.
We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen

Stewardship of Treasure

Good and gracious God,
We give you thanks for the many blessings you have given us –
For shelter, clothing, food, love, and abundance in our lives,
And for our parishes which connect us so closely with you and your people.
We hear your call to Stewardship, Lord.
Give us generous hearts that we may respond by sharing our blessings.
Give us courageous hearts that we may respond by living the Gospel message.
Give us faith to believe in your goodness, so that with confident hearts
we may return a portion of our monetary resources to you, oh Lord.
We pray, with grateful hearts, through Christ, your Son. Amen.

A Prayer for My Parish

Almighty God,
My parish family is composed of people like me.
I help make it what it is. It will be friendly, if I am.
Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them.
It will do great work, if I work.
It will make generous gifts to many causes, if I am a generous giver.
It will bring other people into its worship and fellowship, if I invite and bring them.
It will be a parish family of loyalty and love, of fearlessness and faith, and a parish with a noble spirit, if I - who make it what it is - am filled with these same qualities.
Therefore, with the help of God, I will dedicate myself to the task of being all the things that I want my parish family to be.
Bless my journey, Lord God, that I might build the Church through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

Prayer by the International Catholic Stewardship Council, October 2008

Heavenly Father,
We give you thanks for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, whose life, ministry, death and resurrection served to witness Your immeasurable love for us all. May his example help us to be good stewards of the Body of Christ, and to realize that all lives we bring to Christ are sacred and deserve to be looked upon in Your image and likeness.
Strengthen those who devote their lives to nurturing those among us who are most vulnerable, including the sick, the aged, children and those yet to be born. Let their witness give us the courage and resolve to proclaim the Gospel of Life to all whom we encounter.
Continue to send your Holy Spirit upon us to give us the wisdom and strength to be servants of humankind and through our own witness, living icons of ChristYour Son, the servant of us all. We ask all this through our Lord Jesus Christ Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

This manual also identifies important building blocks within, under and around the "pillars" to assure there is a sound structure in place.
    • A Parish Stewardship Handbook: This document provides parishes and parish stewardship committees with a more general / condensed overview, preparation, follow-up, evaluation and related guidelines pertaining to the annual diocesan / parish stewardship renewal process. This handbook most appropriately serves as a supplement to the Parish Stewardship manual.
    • Characteristics of a Stewardship Parish: This manual identifies and describes eight (8) characteristics that experience indicates are evident in parishes where, through the generous and sacrificial response and conversion of parishioners, the stewardship way of life is alive, vibrant and livelong.
    • Young Stewards in Formation: This manual contains suggested and specifically prepared classroom stewardship curriculums for students in parish school of religion (CCD) programs as well as for students in Catholic elementary and secondary schools. The curriculums and related lesson plans are prepared to provide for and assist the catechists as they strive to convey and teach the concept of stewardship to our Catholic youth.
