Society of St. Vincent de Paul

January 16, 2008

St. Vincent de Paul’s NEARLY NEW Thrift Store will open for business on Wednesday, January 16.  The shop features clothing, household goods and miscellaneous items in nearly new condition at very affordable prices.  Store hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Those wishing to drop off donations may do so on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and noon.  Food donations for the pantry are always welcome, too.   All proceeds go toward the work of the St. Vincent de Paul of Santa Maria del Mar, whose mission is to help the needy of Flagler County regardless of race or creed.

The NEARLY NEW Thrift Store is located at 400 South Daytona Avenue next to the Flagler Beach Post Office.

December 4, 2007

These are exciting days for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Santa Maria del Mar.

Less than a month ago, members celebrated the first anniversary of the society’s establishment in the parish – the only chapter of the Society in Flagler County.  More than needy 450 families – 1,400 individuals -- have been served in that short span of time.

Now, work is under way to complete the move to new quarters at 400 South Daytona Avenue next to the Flagler Post Office.  Already, a new and more spacious office is open for interviewing clients and serving their needs, whether by providing food from the pantry or by helping solve the problems that come with joblessness or illness.

And very soon, the Nearly New Thrift Store will be open to the public, offering clothing and other items at reasonable prices. If you are interested in volunteering at the Thrift Store, please call Louise at 246-3641.

Anyone wishing to learn more about the Society may call (386) 338-4025 or (386) 338-4916.
