Pro-Life Activities: Respect Life ProgramThe Priceless Gift of Life. Statement of Cardinal
William H. Keeler, Chairman of the Committee for
Pro-Life Activities of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (October 2008)Sanctity of Life
(Respect Life)We have a new name and a new direction.
The role of our committee is to change the hearts and minds of people to be concerned with the sanctity of Life from conception to death. We need to pray for the conversion of hearts and minds. In other words, we need to pray for the doctors who perform abortions, we need to pray for the mothers who feel the need to have abortions, we need to pray for those who feel the need to end their lives such as the elderly, and others, who have serious illnesses. Our name, Sanctity of Life, says it all.
In addition to attending to Diocesan Respect Life events throughout each year, we will host four "Sanctity of Life Saturday Night Socials". Please post these important dates on your calendars:
- Jan. 18, Sanctity of Life, masses celebrated throughout our diocese, we will have a special mass with a procession commemorating the 36 years of Roe vs Wade (9 AM Mass).
- Jan. 22, Thursday, 36th anniversary of Roe vs Wade. We will have a special 9 AM Mass for the more than 50 million babies who were aborted and for their mothers.
- Jan. 31, Saturday, we will have our first "Sanctity of Life Saturday Night Social". Details will follow later. These socials will have speakers from various ministries such as pregnancy support services, prison ministry, hospice ministry, immigration ministry.
Anyone who feels the calling to help our ministry, please call or email Dolores Moody. We proclaim that human life is
a precious gift from God; that
each person who receives this
gift has responsibilities toward
God, self and others; and that
society, through its laws and
social institutions, must protect
and nurture human life at every
stage of its existence.
