My Dear Parishioners in Christ,Stewardship can be a very spiritual path to follow during your Lenten Journey. Image the joy of expressing our love to God through a renewed commitment to our church and yourself. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to praise God through stewardship and thank him for our many blessings?
God is the source of all of our blessings and we at Santa Maria del Mar have been truly blessed:
Our beautiful church Our daily masses
Our families Our children
Our adoration Our growing congregationGod calls upon us to be stewards of faith through our time, talent and treasure. These are very special gifts we can bring to God to show him our love.
Time – Service to one’s Church and community. This can be time to serve the sick or poor, volunteer for activities or special ministries, but most importantly give yourself the gift of time for prayer. In all our busy lives, we must set aside time to give to ourselves and others.
Talent – Individual talents to serve our Church and community. We all have been blessed with unique, individual talents that we can use to serve our Parish. What a special way to say thank you to God. God gave us our talents to use for his good. On a practical note, the parish benefits financially through saved resources.
Treasure – Making a return to God for his many gifts. As our parish continues to grow so do Santa Maria del Mar’s financial needs. The continuation of our debt reduction on our beautiful church, the proposed religious building, the cost of doing business. We must give to God first – not what is left over.
We ask that you each look into your hearts and ask “how have I showed our Lord that I am grateful for all that He has given me?” How can I better support Santa Maria del Mar? Please give us the means to reach the open and closed hearts in our community.
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Father John H. Tetlow
