Resources for the feast of
The Nativity (Birth) of the Blessed Virgin Mary
September 8
compiled by Chau T. Phan
As Catholic Christians, we celebrate the Nativity of Jesus (December 25, which comes nine months after the Incarnation or the feast of the Annunciation, March 25) and the Immaculate Conception of Mary (December 8). However, most Roman Catholics know little about the feast of the Nativity of Mary which comes nine months after December 8, and is one of the twelve major feasts in the Orthodox (Eastern) Catholic tradition, and one of the oldest traditions in the veneration of Mary. For this reason, many internet resources in this page come from Orthodox sources.
