For parents engaged in home schooling
As the primary educators of their children, parents have the right and duty to choose the kind of educational environment they determine best suits their children. Therefore, home schooling is a viable option for the general education of children.

If Catholic parents choose to provide catechesis for the children in their home, that catechesis must be both complete and authentic. Parents who choose to be their child's/children's catechist(s) must adhere to all guidelines for catechists as outlined by the diocesan bishop, and have regular meetings with the parish coordinator.

Parents are not alone in this task, we at Santa Maria del Mar are here to assist and support you. Please phone the church office regarding meeting with the D.R.E. to obtain books and have periodic meetings to make sure the curriculum meets diocesan guildelines.
